The year of 2020, I served as Public Relations Chair for Kappa Kappa Gamma at my school, Kansas State University. This included taking, editing, and posting photos to be shared on the Instagram account, @kappa_atksu. Along with this, I created graphics for the account and for other Panhellenic events. Through this experience, I was able to grow my leadership skills, and learn more about the responsibilities of running social media accounts. I used my time in office to develop a stronger personal brand for the account, which included using my own illustrations on photos to set them apart. I created story graphics using Illustrator, and wrote all copy on my own.
Looking back, I would critique my work by mentioning that the feed was somewhat busy. Though a sorority Instagram account is typically people-focused, I would include more aesthetic filler images to simplify the layout.
When I first took over the account, likes were around 200-250. By the end of my year-long term as an officer, likes averaged anywhere from 250-500. Below are some stats from a few posts I made. Overall engagement and follower counts grew rapidly as I began to make changes to the account's aesthetic and experimented with my own personal touches.
